Oral Health Program

SAAPD took an initiative to reach out to the inhabitants of isolated and far flung areas of LoC along Mendhar, district Poonch, J&K for organizing a free Oral Health Awareness Program and Dental Checkup. SAAPD collaborated with Border Security Force (BSF) and Indira Gandhi Govt Dental College, Jammu on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti 14th Jan 2023 and organised a Mega Camp. More than 400 children and 50 parents were screened. Thereafter, demonstration on correct brushing technique was given for good Oral Hygiene, free dental kits and medicines were distributed amongst the locals. Sarpanch of the area extended his gratitude on behalf of all inhabitants for delivering services at their door steps. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Shri Dhirendra Singh Sindhu, DIG BSF and his Team for organizing the event and ensuring the security to the Team of visiting Doctors. Special thanks to Dr Rahul Hegde sir, Dr Rakesh Gupta sir, Dr Bhawna Ma’am, Dr Seema Rao, Ashok Kaul sir,Dr Ritesh and Post Graduate students Dr Yasir, Dr Gulbar, Dr Isha, Dr Akram and Dr Rumisa for volunteering.


Meeting of founder members took place in Chennai,India and got registered with Govt of India on 8th January, 2018 with a mission towards the betterment of oral health status in children amongst 6 countries in the South East Asian region.The picture was taken in the first meeting of the founder members of the society.The other members namely, Professor Vijay P Mathur,Dr Jatinder Kaur, Dr Siva Kumar Nuvvula ,Professor IK pandit sir was not in pictures and Later Dr Umme Salma Abdullah ( Bangladesh)and Dr Chandra Herath (Sri Lanka )and Dr Sonam Ngedup ( Bhutan )also joined the founder members


Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Yenepoya Dental College, Mangalore in association with the South Asian Association of Pediatric Dentistry organized a megafun run titled “ KIDDORUN” for children between the age group of 3-12 years on the 13th of November 2022 at Kadri Park, Mangalore. We had an overwhelming response for registration from over 600 children. The registered participants received a goodie bag containing T Shirts , oral health education materials and oral hygiene products along with other exciting gifts. The race was flagged off at 7 .00AM for the 9-12 age group and at 7.45 AM for the 6-9 years age group which were competitive events and the 3-6 years category which was a non competitive fun run. Prizes were distributed to the winners along with oral health promotion skits, street plays and games were organized. All the participants appreciated the program. The programs were sponsored and supported by Karnataka Bank, Apple Ply, Going nuts, Surohi, Radha Medicals , Dr. Reddys and Group Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
